This application helps you master the keyboard by focusing on musical triads and scales. The core idea is to build a deeper understanding of harmony by visualizing notes within the context of a specific key. Select a chord to see its foundational notes, then select a suggested scale to see how its notes overlay and interact with the chord across the entire keyboard. This helps you connect harmonic structure with melodic possibilities.
How to Use
Key & Chord Selection: First, select a musical Key from the main controls. The Chords buttons will automatically update to show the diatonic chords for that key.
Chord Selection: Click any Chord button to see its notes displayed across the keyboard.
Add Intervals: Use the Intervals buttons to add extra notes to the selected chord.
Keyboard Options: Click the Options (☰) button to open the settings menu. Here you can toggle the note Colours and enable or disable Audio.
Audio Playback: Audio is on by default. You can click any key on the virtual keyboard to hear its note. Clicking a chord or adding an interval will automatically play the resulting chord. The "Listen to Chord" button can be used to replay the current chord at any time.
Metronome: Use the Metronome controls to practice in time. Click the ► button to start or stop the click. Click the ☰ button next to it to open the settings panel.
Note/Interval Display: Click anywhere on the coloured legend below the keyboard to switch the note display between note names and interval names.
Suggested Scales: The Suggested Scales list provides ideas for improvisation. Clicking a scale will overlay all of its notes on the keyboard. Certain notes in the scale will pulse—these are the "flavor notes" that give the scale its unique character and are great melodic targets.
